==================================================== Newsletter - Issue 87 Date 02/13/09 ==================================================== ==================================================== TCT Quick Tips - Winter Musings ==================================================== This isn't a quick tip, but I've got to tell this story......this morning I was having breakfast with two of my golfing buddies, Jan and Artie, at a Batavia Diner, and unknown to me Don and Cindy Luxon were seated a couple of booths away. I guess one knows they've been talking too much when someone two booths away stops on the way out of a restaurant and says "we could tell the moment Tom got served...ah, blessed silence..." Anyway, my table had been discussing the merits of trying to set up to hit practice balls in a confined space, like a garage that has a vertically challenged ceiling, and I told a story about shanking a 3 wood in my garage, missing the net, and having the ball fly around the inside of my garage like a scud missile. Miraculously, no glass was broken, and although I was scurrying around like a rat in a pinball machine while the ball was caroming around, I never did find it. I rarely lose a ball on the course, but I lost one in my garage, go figure. Then Cindy mentioned that they actually have enough space in their living room to swing a full wedge - although she also mentioned that her son said that he knows when his wedge swing plane is getting too vertical because it scrapes the ceiling. Got to love a golfing family. Maybe the family that plays together paints together? . BTW, Cindy won the 2008 Ladies BCC Club Championship last year, and Don won his flight, maybe there's some merit to swinging a pitching wedge in your living room. ==================================================== Golf Tip : What It Takes to Be Number 1 ==================================================== I've got a little something different this week instead of the usual golf specific tip. I've always been a huge fan of motivational books and DVD's - I have a huge personal library - and in my net travels I came across a great DVD at a site called Simple Truths. Please enjoy this Vince Lombardi inspired DVD called "What It Takes To Be Number 1": http://www.lombardimovie.com/ If you apply these principles to your golf game, I don't see how you can't get better. I guess the same could be said about applying them to your life too. Enjoy, Tom
