==================================================== Newsletter - Issue 111 Date 09/01/09 ==================================================== ==================================================== Equipment - Books - DVD's - Instruction ==================================================== I just picked up two Ontic Golf putters - http://www.onticgolf.com/ and I'll be including a critique after I've tested them. It will be awhile, because I'm waiting for the new grip made by Super Stroke called the SuperStroke Lite Fatso putter grip to install on the M-PULSE Tri-Gold Mallet Putter. The advantage of the new grip, which will be available after September 15th, is that it gives me the same feel as my current SuperStrole grip, but it's almost 190 grams lighter. This means that I don't need to make any swingweight adjustments to the putter head, so it will remain as aesthetically pure as it was when it arrived. I'll critique the grip after I've had a chance to test that too. And by the way, both putters - the Mallet and the Swytch Blade look spectacular. Enjoy, Tom ==================================================== TCT Quick Tips - Sway Prevention ==================================================== To cure a sway, take easy practice swings with a golfball under the outside of your rear foot. Three heavy rubber doorstops, aligned side by side, give the same effect with a little more comfort. ==================================================== Golf Tip: Think Like The Pros ==================================================== Tour Pro's think differently. When they get up to hit the ball, they’re not thinking technique, they’re focused on a target and a feel for their swing to get it to that target. I think the average golfer gets up with about 5-10 thoughts, then looks out at the hole thinking, ok let’s get in the fairway. Conversely, the tour pro creates a feel with his practice motion (not a full swing), then picks out a target and has a visual of the ball going to the target and a feel of the swing to get him there. Once he actually pulls the trigger, all thoughts are pretty much gone. Here's what an internal thought process for a pro or very good player would sound like: I've got 145 yards to the pin. 3 yards behind the pin, 2 in front to the water. It’s into the wind and uphill - play 155, I've got a sidehill lie in the rough, so that is adding another 5. I don't want to swing hard, so 165 total. I need to hit a pull draw off this lie, so I'm really going to stay on top of this. I'm going to aim about 10 feet right of the pin. From there the player swings within himself or herself to hit that exact shot. I think the average golfer would have gone up said to himself let’s knock this on the green, and then proceed to take a hard swing with his 150 club, come off balance because of the lie and the ball would end up in the water. The important thing here is to turn OFF the left brain once you commit to your shot, line, and distance. Enjoy, Tom
