Tom's Featured Tip: New for 2015

For the sake of simplicity, all advice on swings and drills is provided from a right handed perspective; lefties .... well, you know what to do!

Happy New Year everyone!

I'm departing from my usual featured tip format to highlight something that I'm very excited about that's new for 2015! I will be tweaking my lesson content a little bit (prices will remain the same as 2014), but that's not what I'm talking about here.

As all of you know, I am a proponent of making your short game and your putting as sharp as it can be, because these are the areas that we can all excel at. They don't require a lot of power, so that levels the playing field - especially for putting.

There's absolutely no reason to not be at least a competent putter if you are willing to study, perhaps take a lesson, and practice. You all also know that I am a staunch advocate of setting up a practice area at home if at all possible.

So, to that end, here's what I am now authorized to make available at a discount to my newsletter subscribers - a permanent outdoor training area for your putting and chipping practice, and - if your yard has room - pitching practice.

You could actually melt strokes off your handicap by getting really excellent at putting. chipping, and even pitch shots - in your own back yard!

I've hooked up with a local Tour Greens dealer to be able to sell these permanent outdoor - and indoor - putting, chipping, and pitching greens.

I'm his exclusive sales rep for a one hundred mile radius of Batavia, NY, and I've negotiated a discount for anyone from my newsletter that decides to have either a permanent outdoor or indoor practice green installed.

Check out the photo galleries on this page to see some existing residential installations: Tour Greens Photo Galleries

There are also three of these greens installed at the Plum Creek Driving Range. They've been through a couple of snowstorms, and they are open now for putting as long as there's no snow on them.

If you are interested in a  FREE no-obligation price quote, or have questions about how a Tour Green can help you to drastically improve your putting and chipping in the privacy of your own yard or home, please call or text me - Tom Tucker - at (716) 474-3005, or contact me by email at ttucker@rochester.rr.com

Health, Wellness, Fitness: Simple Bodyweight Workout

Disclaimer: DO NOT PERFORM ANY STRENUOUS PHYSICAL EXERCISE LIKE THE ONE LISTED BELOW, WITHOUT CONSULTING YOUR DOCTOR.

I have received a few emails from people who prefer bodyweight exercises to weight training, and some have asked for my recommendations for a bodyweight routine.

Here's a simple - but not easy - routine that incorporates what I consider to be the four best bodyweight exercises: chinups (palms forward), narrow grip pushups, bodyweight squats that progress to one leg squats, and planks.

The workout sequence is the same as I mentioned above:
  • chinups
  • narrow grip pushups (hands under shoulders)
  • full squats progressing to one leg squats
  • planks

Perform three giant sets, three times per week. A giant set means doing each exercise, rest 30 seconds, then do the next exercise.

After you have progressed through all of the exercises, rest 90 seconds then do them all again.

This workout needs to be progressive to keep improving on your strength capacities.

This means either increasing reps or decreasing rest times, or both.

Start with whatever you are capable of doing, keep those reps for a week, then add reps for the next week.

For chinups and one leg squats, use something for assistance if they are difficult for you.

For chinups, you may need to stand on something to get you closer to the bar when you start, before you are able to work up to one unassisted full chinup. For one leg squats, you may want to hold onto a pole or chair at first, and to do them partially, working your way up to full one leg squats. For planks, start out at 20 seconds and work your way up to 45 second planks.

Do whatever you need to do to begin, and if you keep at it you'll be doing them without assistance before you know it!

My wife told me about an article that described 13 different plank variations, it was pretty interesting: 13 New Ways To Do Planks  Thanks Mary!

Nutrition:  Do you lack energy, sleep poorly, or feel generally lousy a lot of the time?

If that describes you, maybe it's time to try the Isotonix Daily Essentials Kit supplements that I personally use daily.

If you haven't tried them yet, why the heck not?

Note that they are called Daily Essentials - not Daily Optionals - for a reason!
Simply said - if our body doesn't make it, we need to take it. These all-natural supplements have made a profound difference in my health. I used to take high blood pressure and cholesterol medication, and I now have normal blood pressure and normal cholesterol levels and take none of those medications anymore.

In fact, all of my blood work is perfect.

The only change I made to get off these medications was taking my Daily Essentials, and that's not even why I started taking them, it was a side benefit. I started taking it to increase my energy, and it did that too!

Why the heck not give it a try?
