Review: Fiberbuilt Golf Flight Deck Practice Station

For simplicity, all advice on actual swings or drills is provided from a right handed perspective.

As I've mentioned in the past, when I see an interesting training aid that I think has promise, I get one, review it, then either recommend it or not.

One such training aid that recently caught my eye is the Fiberbuilt Golf Flight Deck Practice Station.

I contacted the company and they sent me one for my review.

Full disclosure: other than the one I got for review, I make absolutely zero money on any orders that may come as a result of my review.

When the package arrived in a large box, it was pretty hefty, which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. It reeked of durability and quality right from the start.

When I buy a training aid I usually consider three things:
  1. Does it do what it is supposed to do
  2. Is it durable
  3. Is it worth the investment
Here's a picture of the Flight Deck Practice Station from their website, and with it set up in my driveway:

1. Does It Do What It's Supposed to Do

It was easy to set up and provided a superb hitting experience. The pieces fit together in somewhat of a tongue and groove assembly, and they fit firmly together. The turf has a more durable feel than the free standing stance and hitting mats that I use for my lessons (by the way, my stance and hitting mat cost more than one Flight Deck Practice Station). I liked everything about it, including the slots for the included alignment sticks, and the insertable adjustable tees for when you hit your driver, or any other club using a tee.

I also liked the 11 ball tray that's attached near the turf. It forces you to reset after 11 swings. That's great for those of you that normally get into a hitting frenzy at the range and never stop to re-focus.

It's easily transportable by stacking the pieces in your trunk and assembling them on site, which takes abour four minutes.

2. Is It Durable

I hit 200 shots with it set up at the BCC Range, since I plan on using it for lessons, and 200 shots in my driveway, and it felt virtually indestructible to me.
  • The stance platform felt great under my feet. Just the right amount of firmness and no slippage.

  • It comes with a 300,000 shot guarantee, most other mats are usually in the 50,000 range.

  • To put that in perspective, you could hit 100 shots per day, five days per week for over eleven years and you still wouldn't have reached the shot number of the guarantee.

  • I purposely hit some wedges with a steep swing that would normally produce a deep divot, and it was none the worse for wear on the turf or my wrists. It actually felt better on my wrists than the high quality mats I currently use.

  • The hitting surface itself is called Fiberbuilt Grass, and it’s specifically designed for durability and injury prevention. The company integrated it into a high percentage of their tee lines and the bigger Studio Mats and Combo Mats that are used by ranges and teaching facilities, so it’s been proven in a commercial setting.

  • It looks and feels extremely durable, and should last well over a decade under normal use.

Is It Worth The Investment
  • The investment for the Fiberbuilt Golf Flight Deck Practice Station. with two alignment rods and one adjustable tee is $499. I would buy a couple more tees for an additional $20, they are the only part of the whole setup that could possibly break with a bad driver swing. The turf portion of the setup - the Fight Deck - is replaceable for $99, but the only reason I'd think you'd ever need to replace it is if it caught fire.

  • That number isn't chump change, but in my professional opinion, you absolutely get what you pay for with this product.

  • The great news is that if you decide to order, use this discount code: TomTucker$100 when you place your order and receive a $100 discount. Offer expires 10/31/23 so take advantage if you want one.

My Recommendation

If you are serious about practicing at home to improve your game, this is an essential product, and as I said before, it should last a VERY long time. Buy one!

It would also make a great Christmas present for the golfer in your life.

If you are serious about practicing but can't get to the range as often as you'd like to, one of these Flight Deck Practice Stations and a pop up practice net in your yard can be a great way to build your swing.

I also plan on using mine indoors in the winter practicing short swing punch shots - which for me translates into great ball compression when I play. You only need normal basement celinig height for this type of practice and the benefits are great.

Try it, you'll like it.
