The Best Training Aid For Indoor or Outdoor Practice
The Divot Board
This is the most useful ball striking development training aid that I own.

For simplicity, all advice on actual swings or drills is provided from a right handed perspective.
I love my The Divot Board. I use it at every Ball Striking lesson, as well as for my Full Swing 1 (Irons) lessons. If you don't have one, get one here: The Divot Board.
I also use it for my own practice at the range and at home, indoors and outdoors.
The divot board sits about 3/4" above the ground when sitting on a hard surface. When being used outdoors on grass it doesn't pose much of a problem, because you can just press it into the grass, grip down on the club 3/4" to preserve your swing radius length, and anchor the rear end of the board with a tee so that it won't move around too much after each strike.
Using it on a hard surface is a little more challenging, because the board moves around quite a bit when hit.
I do like to make swings in my driveway, so I got to thinking about a solution and came up with something that works really great.
I found a couple of old thick rubber stance mats that I used to use for an indoor lesson setup before simulators were popular. Luckily, they were just the right depth for my divot board to fit flush to the top surface after fitting it in.
I traced the board outline on one mat, made the cut with a utility knife, and voila - a perfect hard surface practice station:
If you own a Divot Board (if you don't, buy one - it's the best training aid ever), I'm sure that you can hunt down a couple of inexpensive pads online or at Walmart or Home Depot, and set yourself up for some great lowpoint feedback practice at home in your driveway, garage, or basement.
It magnifies the bang you already get for your buck from your Divot Board.
