==================================================== Newsletter - Issue 38 Date 10/24/07 ==================================================== ==================================================== TCT Quick Tips - Balance ==================================================== Many golfers do not know the relationship of heel - toe balance to some swing tendencies. Here they are: If your weight is too much towards your toes, you will tend to hit your shots fat. If your weight is too much towards your heels, you will tend to hit the ball thin. This applies to full shots, iron shots, and to putting also. In my experience, the best balance is to have your weight bias about 55% towards the toes. Experiment to find out what is best for you. ==================================================== Golf Tip : The Magnificent 7 ==================================================== If anyone has a golf question that they would like answered, please email your question to: teachingpro@bataviacc.com and I'll do my best to answer it in an upcoming newsletter. This 1st tee warmup which, I call the Magnificent 7, will greatly increase your chances of hitting a good drive. If you are like 90% of the golfers in the world, your pre round warmup goes something like this: rush from the parking lot to the pro shop, swing by the putting green for about ten putts, then rush to the tee to make your tee time. When you get there, your body is totally unprepared to hit that first tee shot, and it's usually about four holes before everything gets in synch. Here's an easy and relatively quick warmup drill that will yield terrific results. When it's your turn to hit, tee up the ball as usual then step away to take practice swings in the following sequence with your normal tempo: Take 7 consecutive, continuous practice swings with the following percentages of your normal swing speed. Continuous means that you go from finish right through to the next swing without pausing, the club stays in motion except for a short pause at your complete finish: Swing 1 - swing 25% of full speed with full finish swing 2 - swing 50% of full speed with full finish swing 3 - swing 75% of full speed with full finish swing 4 - swing 90% of full speed with full finish swing 5 - swing 90% of full speed with full finish swing 6 - swing 100% of full speed with full finish swing 7 - swing 125% of full speed with full finish Then step up to your ball, align your clubface and body for your shot, stare at the target for 3 seconds, glance at the ball for 1 second, stare at the target for 3 seconds, glance at the ball for 2 seconds, then swing through the shot with 90% of full speed, normal tempo with a nice full finish that you hold for a 3 second count. Try this one, it has my TCT guarantee! One more tip, during their pre shot routine: Good golfers stare at the target and glance at the ball Poor golfers glance at the target and stare at the ball, usually until rigor mortis sets in.
