Lateral Hip Slide

LINEAR LATERAL HIP SLIDE

Tom's Notes

Shifting your hips laterally towards the target (above, right) keeps the strong rotational force of the body from pulling the club across the ball.

Note that care must be taken to keep the upper swing center - the area between your shoulders - from sliding forward with your hips, or you will be blocking everything right.

When the club approaches from the inside, the player not only is in a correct position to hit a draw, he also has the power of the body turn supporting the swing. The hip slide also tilts the spine away from the target, which shallows the descent and sets up a solid strike.
