Driver - Hitting a Draw

DRIVER - HITTING A DRAW

Tom's Notes

Please Note that more often than not, I now teach students to play the ball in front of the line of tangency of the circle with the aimline, and to set up with a closed stance and less forward shaft lean in order to hit a straight drive.

To hit a draw with your driver, the club must approach the ball from the inside. To do that, keep the handle in front of the clubhead through impact. Set up with the handle forward (Y), and maintain that relationship by shifting continuously to your front side coming down. The club will swing in to out (behind the circle), causing the ball to start right and draw. You may need to open the clubface at address, depending on your setup and your swingpath angle.
